Who we are at the MMIC and COHV

Do you want to be the best rider you can be? The Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV), two national non-profit industry associations whose members include the major manufacturers, distributors and retailers of motorcycles and ATV's, can help point you in the right direction. As owners of seven premiere motorcycle & ATV shows held annually across Canada, it tells you right away that we know a lot about riding and what it takes to "Ride Like A Pro". Each year new and experienced riding enthusiasts come to these Canadian Industry showcases to check out what's new and what's hot for the upcoming season. Each year enthusiasts are introduced to the latest technology that makes riding smoother, safer and more enjoyable.

At MMIC & COHV we know that riding your bike or ATV is a thrill that requires critical skills. Luckily, these skills can be learned and with a click of a mouse, on-road and off-road riders can enter our web sites and find out for yourself what it takes to get the proper training, equipment, riding experience and ongoing education that allows you to master your machine, the environment and constantly changing riding situations. Check us out at www.mmic.ca or www.cohv.ca and join us at one of our seven shows in a city near you. A percentage of the profits from these shows are distributed to rider clubs and federations to help fund and support industry sanctioned programs and safety and educational initiatives across the country.

WELCOME

The members of the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) invite you to attend the Toronto Motorcycle Show. The Toronto show is the Canadian motorcycle and ATV industries official launch of its cross Canada, seven city show tour where the leading manufacturers and distributors travel coast to coast offering the riding community a first glimpse of their new 2010 models. The MMIC and COHV are national, not-for-profit industry trade associations whose members account for over 90 per cent of all new motorcycles, scooters and ATV's sold in Canada. A percentage of the profits from these seven shows are distributed to rider clubs and federations to help fund and support industry sanctioned programs, and safety and educational initiatives across the country.

The Toronto Motorcycle Show is the one and only Ontario stop on the tour and is the exclusive show in the province where MMIC and COHV member companies get together to introduce hundreds of new models to the press and riding public. Visitors are offered an exceptional opportunity to check out the newest bikes, ATV's, scooters, gear and accessories direct from the manufacturers, factory reps and dealers- including Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, BMW, Ducati, Buell, Victory, Triumph, KTM, Hyosung, BRP, and many more. In addition, the show offers enthusiasts a wide variety of entertainment, seminars, celebrities and much more as major retailers and distributors feature every conceivable product and service of interest to the rider.

Presidents Message

Message from the President Of
The Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC)
And The Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV)

It’s not too late! It’s just before Christmas and we have inside knowledge that Santa made his list and is checking it twice. Why twice? Because Santa knows that once riding enthusiasts check out all of the amazing 2010 model bikes and ATVs at the 2009 Toronto Motorcycle & ATV show, their wish list will change. What can we say, it can’t be helped -- these vehicles just keep getting better and it stands to reason that wish lists will keep getting longer.

Even more important is the fact that the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) own seven shows across Canada and this show in Toronto is the only show in Ontario where the major manufacturers get together to introduce hundreds of new 2010 models to the riding public.

The MMIC and the COHV want to give everyone the opportunity to learn about the world of motorcycles and Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) as an inclusive, welcoming one in which just about everyone can participate safely, easily and have an awful lot of fun while they're doing it.

As the voice of the industry we strongly believe that proper training and education are vital components to better understanding the responsibilities associated with choosing to ride. In particular, we want to speak to those people who have often thought that they would like to ride - the kind of person who takes advantage of shows like the MMIC/COHV Motorcycle & ATV shows. They like what they see and they know what they like but they’re not sure how to go about being the best rider they can be.

This is the perfect opportunity. Whether you are a novice or experienced rider these shows are your opportunity to talk to the experts about your passion. You will see the best of the best on display from big name manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, BMW, Ducati, Victory, KTM, Aprilia, MotoGuzzi, Arctic Cat, BRP (Can Am), CMI, Vespa, Triumph and Polaris to name a few.

In addition to the shows, the MMIC and COHV offer a broad range of materials free-of-charge to assist new and experienced riders. So don’t worry if you forgot to ask a question at the show just click on the www.mmic.ca and the www.cohv.ca websites.

You will find information on how you can become the “Best Rider You Can Be.” Information such as: rider training, safety tips, proper riding gear, where to ride and protecting the environment. All of this information will help you ride smart, stay safe and be aware.

Enjoy the shows, and remember the old adage, keep the rubber side down and a smile on your face.

Bob Ramsay
President MMIC/COHV
